Hyundai has announced UK prices for its new i20 supermini. The entry-level Classic 3dr will start from just £8,195. The Classic has air conditioning, 6 airbags (x2 front, side and curtain) with passenger airbag deactivation, active front head restraints, body coloured bumpers, remote central locking with folding key, electric front windows, reach and rake steering wheel, electric power steering, 60/40 split folding rear seats, tinted glass, cooled glove box, drivers seat height adjustment, and a 4 speaker RDS audio system with auxiliary input socket and MP3. The 5dr model is a £450 upgrade and starts at £8,645.
Comfort models - which is expected to be the best seller starts from £9,445 for the 1.4 litre petrol engine, and adds 15" alloy wheels, x4 electric windows with driver anti-trap, heated & adjustable body coloured door mirrors, body coloured door handles, luggage hooks, trip computer, front map lights, an iPod compatible 6 speaker stereo and steering wheel mounted audio controls. The 1.4 Auto starts at £10,845.
Style models add 16" alloys, climate control, part leather upholstery, centre console metal grain effect, leather steering wheel and gearknob, electric folding door mirrors, luggage net and front fog lights. The 1.4 litre Style starts at £10,845, however, the 1.4 CRDi requires a £1,000 premium over it's petrol counterpart.
The 78bhp, 1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine, which returns 54.3mpg and emits 124g/km of CO2, the choice of a 100bhp 1.4 litre (50.4mpg, 133g/km) and 1.4 diesel in 75bhp (64.2mpg and 116g/km) and 90bhp (62.8mpg and 118g/km) outputs. The 1.4 Auto emits 146g/km.
ESP is a £250 options across the range alongside £355 for metallic or mica paint. If you like to personalise your car, wait a little longer, and you will be treated to Hyundais wide range of accessories.
Ireland, UK and Austria are among the first countries to receive the new i20. Irish prices start at €14,995 for the 1.2 litre Classic model and €10,990 in Austria for the i20 base model. As with all new Hyundais, every i20 comes with a 5 year warranty; 5dr models go on sale on 15th January 2009, with the 3dr arriving in April 2009.
